Dear Reader,
I've decided to give in and do the whole "I'm in college so I'm going to take pictures and document my excursions in the hopes that my friends will read them" thing. It's definitely easier than a scrapbook. Also, it gives me something in common with Barney Stinson, always a plus.
Today is the day before I'm supposed to leave. "Supposed to" being the key part of that sentence. Unfortunately, I still do not have a visa from the French Embassy. For those of you out there shaking your heads and silently tutting at me for being such a negligent procrastinator, you are incorrect. I have been incredibly timely with all of my documents, forms, and deliverables. It is France, SKEMA, and AU who are responsible for my delay, if there is one (and it looks like it unfortunately). But unfortunately ranting here does not get my visa processed any faster. Best case scenario at this point: I get to make a last minute, same day trip to DC and back the same day I leave for France at 10pm. Lovely.
At least I picked a good time to go. I have just turned 21, which is very much important in the US, but is throughly unimportant in France. So at least I had 5 days of basking my ability to buy alcohol whenever I please. Not gunna lie, it was pretty cool. Although what I have come to realize is that I prefer my own mixings to that of any bar or restaurant. And I have found a new favorite: Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea.
ANYWAY. Right now it's 2:45am. I'm supposed to be sleeping. Or packing. But definitely not blogging. I should probably get my priorities straightened out before I leave. And my room too. It's a disaster.
As this is my first post, I will conclude with a line from my favorite poem, "Aristotle" by Billy Collins:
This is the beginning.
Almost anything can happen.
